Q: When is the best time to shop deals for patio furniture?
Brad: Now is a great time to start! Many stores start discounting patio furniture in March and early April. However, if you don’t see anything you like right away, there will be more sales throughout the spring and summer months. Here’s a few deals I spotted this week (if they are still available):
5pc Patio Dining Set $275 Shipped
This Mainstays 5-Piece Patio Dining Set sells for $274.97 at Walmart.com. Plus shipping is free. That’s the best price we could find by $55! Each seat can support 250 pounds. Sales tax is charged in most states.
Here’s another.
8pc Patio Sectional Set $2,000 Shipped
This 8pc Patio Sectional Seating Set drops from $3,347 to $1,999.99 at Wayfair. Plus shipping is free. This is the lowest price we could find anywhere. It is made of all-weather wicker material and comes with cushions. You can choose from 12 colors. Sales tax is charged in most states.
Also, while we expect to see sales run through the summertime, we still recommend that you shop early this year. Much like holiday decor back in October, we think patio furniture will sell earlier and faster than ever before. People are still staying home and still updating their home spaces, so if you see something you like for a fair price, go ahead and grab it.
Q: What other times during the year can we expect big discounts?
Brad: If you aren’t in dire need of a new patio set right away for spring, we see a lot of great deals around Memorial Day. We do also see some Black Friday deals on patio sets, but fewer than we see in the early spring and during Memorial Day sales.
Q: What’s the difference between a bistro and seating sets?
Bistro Sets are compact 3-piece sets, normally with two chairs and a small table, are a good deal at around $150 or less. Four-Piece Rattan Sets typically have two chairs, a little loveseat, and a small coffee table. Prices to look for are $250 and under. Much like the rattan sets, 4-Piece Acacia Wood Sets come with the same seating options and a good deal will be under $400.
Prices for Sectional Sets will vary and good deals can range from $500 up to $1,000.
Q: What about Outdoor Dining sets?
Five-Piece Patio Dining Sets typically come with 4 chairs and a dining table. Look for prices in the $400-$600 range.
Seven-Piece Patio Dining Sets (that’s an outdoor dining table with 6 chairs to make up a 7-piece set) will likely fall in the $600-$900 range.
Q: What are some things to take into consideration that may affect the price of an outdoor dining set?
Brad: Aluminum will be more affordable and does not rust. Steel sets will be more expensive and heavy, but make sure they are powder coated to prevent rusting.
Q: What are your favorite places to shop for patio furniture?
Brad: Wayfair, Home Depot, Walmart, Overstock, Target and Amazon are my favorite picks.
With Amazon be sure to check the seller and their rating. Also, confirm that the set has free shipping and free returns before ordering. The stores above automatically offer this, but Amazon will depend on the seller and set.
